I try to limit myself stopping at them because I will always find something that I want to drag home. I couldn't help myself when I stopped at a friends sale and saw this baby changing table:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkYHsePlFCbS8QsZuqGsG4tIadau34c_rPO28WXzZB6A0NwFye9BhyphenhyphennwXdQRPOuv-DMgbdf2DHZgtfEdfXKiaF0RQ9cHvflZusj_NeLxYfn93LirOeYOJjxWjsjZlqUgjtC-BLeXqB3EU/s1600/2014-07-20+09.05.21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkYHsePlFCbS8QsZuqGsG4tIadau34c_rPO28WXzZB6A0NwFye9BhyphenhyphennwXdQRPOuv-DMgbdf2DHZgtfEdfXKiaF0RQ9cHvflZusj_NeLxYfn93LirOeYOJjxWjsjZlqUgjtC-BLeXqB3EU/s1600/2014-07-20+09.05.21.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
She wanted $20. I offered her $10, but she said that she was having another sale the next weekend and if it doesn't sell I could have it. Well, you guessed it, she called and told me it was all mine! I knew right away it would make a perfect beverage/serving cart for down by my Tiki Bar. <br />
First thing I did was cut the front sections on the top and bottom. I decided to leave the one in the middle:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxOS_7kJwbs7jBrAM_AhnIWf1I3r4F0maDTMSe5HG9ag4rOxMFQlyvKFdUjmJ1rkA0vAo9IHwz8YilEDG-AUpEgilgHblXCRLeb_MOZ1i9iomQYrFy4KP66nuMKkMC8Vjo73DvxYOGJoE/s1600/2014-07-27+11.11.49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxOS_7kJwbs7jBrAM_AhnIWf1I3r4F0maDTMSe5HG9ag4rOxMFQlyvKFdUjmJ1rkA0vAo9IHwz8YilEDG-AUpEgilgHblXCRLeb_MOZ1i9iomQYrFy4KP66nuMKkMC8Vjo73DvxYOGJoE/s1600/2014-07-27+11.11.49.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I wanted to find some cute bright contact paper to cover the shelves, but did not see what I was looking for. I found this dry erase contact paper and decided it would do the trick:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinMhia4tkTKO6NNqAxiHtPVocapaA88mUBPMCxcbSt5iGw9dPBw2zjAG83z_zKMtFMSFo3R7kOc5jpW0uzHpj_sVwYBmtXoRWwt1n1T3BjH1K0ejVDwEJvTbrDQ6ReIIMyMAtffW9TTAU/s1600/2014-07-27+11.08.15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinMhia4tkTKO6NNqAxiHtPVocapaA88mUBPMCxcbSt5iGw9dPBw2zjAG83z_zKMtFMSFo3R7kOc5jpW0uzHpj_sVwYBmtXoRWwt1n1T3BjH1K0ejVDwEJvTbrDQ6ReIIMyMAtffW9TTAU/s1600/2014-07-27+11.08.15.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I went to my stash of paint and found some blue, yellow and red. I mixed the yellow and red to make an orange and ended up buying a small can of light green for the leg pieces. I started painting the top blue. Several coats and it looked fine. When I went to paint the light green, I found I was having trouble covering the wood. So I decided to go ahead and prime the rest of the table: <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I used yellow for the middle and the mixed color orange for the bottom. Here is my finished beverage cart. It will be perfect for our next pool party, don't you think?<br />

So the next time you are at a garage sale, don't look at what an item is, but what it could be. Happy hunting!<br />
<br />
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17186356888064606035noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3723507360035995701.post-8885159726229560122014-03-25T17:13:00.000-07:002014-03-25T17:13:00.113-07:00On a Roll!The Mason Jar lights gave me inspiration to make another project. This took no time at all. I used an old handsoap pump that I was not using:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYobc3zJTOt_7FaTU1D-rsa3kX0yWNMrjSixbf_4JtnT5BSyzv5MGP6UxUA_e2SHhHkXuhCv6r9UTc1i6Lf83tR63J7I1D1Ca0VM38qtwC-W8Y8-0aS03S8lOSfAtldXpj2TGUxGIBg-0/s1600/2014-03-25+18.17.54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYobc3zJTOt_7FaTU1D-rsa3kX0yWNMrjSixbf_4JtnT5BSyzv5MGP6UxUA_e2SHhHkXuhCv6r9UTc1i6Lf83tR63J7I1D1Ca0VM38qtwC-W8Y8-0aS03S8lOSfAtldXpj2TGUxGIBg-0/s1600/2014-03-25+18.17.54.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I punched a hole in the lid, slid the pump on it and used a hose washer to keep it steady:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsTA5Xjrw68WZ8HzzGaN8urMfFqX_EtFAQhkQepur_7nJWhQxSiPqMDGByXqFJ0a0XZHHI8aqZMA4l1eQaIdB0QZTw6GFa6NF_1bbIWNSThooORCFJV9f7qpswp9xZaDKzWcrZLWVgL-0/s1600/2014-03-25+18.18.05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsTA5Xjrw68WZ8HzzGaN8urMfFqX_EtFAQhkQepur_7nJWhQxSiPqMDGByXqFJ0a0XZHHI8aqZMA4l1eQaIdB0QZTw6GFa6NF_1bbIWNSThooORCFJV9f7qpswp9xZaDKzWcrZLWVgL-0/s1600/2014-03-25+18.18.05.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Put it together with the jar, added soap from dollar store bottles and presto! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaWTqYlmxxlY44Iku-XcyHSjK4i9sXOai3yJWpD4z4XuZ4xsK6CZxfo3ykgh-Ls4twpJRKfBa5xEzqLuMgEXxpby77PKgFNKAYTzzP4eVRCpQaGQHCcKyBQNa4lQ20BGART41_oYc0W98/s1600/2014-03-25+18.23.56.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaWTqYlmxxlY44Iku-XcyHSjK4i9sXOai3yJWpD4z4XuZ4xsK6CZxfo3ykgh-Ls4twpJRKfBa5xEzqLuMgEXxpby77PKgFNKAYTzzP4eVRCpQaGQHCcKyBQNa4lQ20BGART41_oYc0W98/s1600/2014-03-25+18.23.56.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
It really does not look as blue as in the last picture. Here it is a bit farther away. I love the added functional decoration!<br />
<br />

My master bath is still a work in progress. I did add a couple of new items from last year. I made the canvas on the wall and bought the desktop for 5 bucks at a garage sale, painted the drawers to match the room. I think it adds a little punch to my vanity. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here is my latest project. I can't take credit for the idea itself, I found it on Pinterest. I took these mason jars I bought last year:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinq58LQTDF_uxs18ZqnIMT30n2T0Jd5CbHGx6o37W_OD48OKkh7RjEcrumBbDTCCX-L7jtfDNKA-pnukBtpjQHKhSyb60-CdiSaeN81PW-8fOJZ0JQ3IU0Nvg8XGkbqBS12pmGSazrSYw/s1600/2014-02-23+10.35.24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinq58LQTDF_uxs18ZqnIMT30n2T0Jd5CbHGx6o37W_OD48OKkh7RjEcrumBbDTCCX-L7jtfDNKA-pnukBtpjQHKhSyb60-CdiSaeN81PW-8fOJZ0JQ3IU0Nvg8XGkbqBS12pmGSazrSYw/s1600/2014-02-23+10.35.24.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I used a screwdriver and hammer to poke a hole in the lid as so: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp9pq6wrIU_VOW76n87q5cDMXO89RvBw50iKGL2JuJGuUyD_KO0Tje7ZXtiQt1alQ7EXPNQAuUurUHMDN23SAtR9sFi-uGyNZQYgN_V4QrKdKJWwUqarYWv9j3FxjphYwKFW8ZdPKX6cQ/s1600/2014-02-23+10.38.33.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp9pq6wrIU_VOW76n87q5cDMXO89RvBw50iKGL2JuJGuUyD_KO0Tje7ZXtiQt1alQ7EXPNQAuUurUHMDN23SAtR9sFi-uGyNZQYgN_V4QrKdKJWwUqarYWv9j3FxjphYwKFW8ZdPKX6cQ/s1600/2014-02-23+10.38.33.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It will be a new fixture on this light: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHxuYfEGn-zlLnzRlAueZUVCL_EO1JzpbWD2__K0TlgYpgbonsJc_hvIxdtplee1PMegcJboSubbfOCsRQxpFY6VenZaCgoh5qBgovFbdoCFqA6kpPP4-tgGKISJ0bfnC_vEMT4QphWFc/s1600/2014-02-23+10.42.30.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHxuYfEGn-zlLnzRlAueZUVCL_EO1JzpbWD2__K0TlgYpgbonsJc_hvIxdtplee1PMegcJboSubbfOCsRQxpFY6VenZaCgoh5qBgovFbdoCFqA6kpPP4-tgGKISJ0bfnC_vEMT4QphWFc/s1600/2014-02-23+10.42.30.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Here is a close up of how the lid went on: <br />

I only did one to make sure it would stay up and that I liked it. I kept this one up for around a month: <br />

<br />
This past weekend I did the other two. I painted the lids to match the light fixture and glued them with Ev6000 heavy duty glue. The light bulb holds them up too so no worries of them falling. <br />

My subdivision days are every 2nd Wednesday in February, May, August and November. They are some of my favorite times of the year! You put out your stuff curbside the night before and it is picked up the next day. It is funny to see all the pickup trucks driving around Tuesday night looking for "stuff". We had a "pile o crap" at our curb and by the time the city picked it up, there were only 2 items left. Needless to say, I am one of those people rubbernecking when I see a pile by the curb. I found this lovely specimen last Tuesday eve.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Nice isn't it? I knew right away that it was going to become a game table to use when my grandsons come over. I decided that I wanted to paint it with a homemade chalkpaint with a recipe I found on Pinterest of course! I have seen lots of furniture posts using this paint and knew I wanted to try it myself. The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of plaster of paris mixed with a 1/2 cup of hot water. Then add 1 and 1/2 cup of any paint. I used some paint I had leftover from painting my kitchen years ago, the plaster of paris was leftover from some kind of project my daughter probably did as a kid. (Did I mention I don't throw too much away?)<br />
It made way more than I needed for this project. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR9s1BEiDGmYYMNyJ5TkJasmMovSMaXKjO8v10nDTjsKCJ3azKFV0uZ86NcaApBbp0NzOOcKk4psrJDc1d5Kowb9ZXozQH1zD9erZG-TJQYyapp1C00Tv5XDNxrcVCd-ksAj_ejbhKF0I/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR9s1BEiDGmYYMNyJ5TkJasmMovSMaXKjO8v10nDTjsKCJ3azKFV0uZ86NcaApBbp0NzOOcKk4psrJDc1d5Kowb9ZXozQH1zD9erZG-TJQYyapp1C00Tv5XDNxrcVCd-ksAj_ejbhKF0I/s320/3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
After mixing it altogether it looked like this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ5KYxr-7coqyGUK7hyannLToRtgZhPx2TchRCZOAs5lUdhieSJ-b_AZ9FUgtBPq806QLvYVt-NuV85OUf8OyNzzhNliDOPDnGg81xZAxV93EHRinbIJ8O8XCYL3hWICDU-JU8QNDYTRk/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ5KYxr-7coqyGUK7hyannLToRtgZhPx2TchRCZOAs5lUdhieSJ-b_AZ9FUgtBPq806QLvYVt-NuV85OUf8OyNzzhNliDOPDnGg81xZAxV93EHRinbIJ8O8XCYL3hWICDU-JU8QNDYTRk/s320/4.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I began painting and I was not sure if it was going to look red enough. Sort of reminded me of Pepto:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVPQEg228Df5LAM6oJWXwkPqrKUlRzvfJDdk_Qd6vAEMn46bCUgmjotzczvJcdBeDoSUq6n3xlS9a7M3wVk2hDHpgDIPoU_T8JaQnG5lxd8ADvvUNUSvcJyVA44d1lQVsW_ZPrsU5krp0/s1600/5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVPQEg228Df5LAM6oJWXwkPqrKUlRzvfJDdk_Qd6vAEMn46bCUgmjotzczvJcdBeDoSUq6n3xlS9a7M3wVk2hDHpgDIPoU_T8JaQnG5lxd8ADvvUNUSvcJyVA44d1lQVsW_ZPrsU5krp0/s320/5.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
So I found some brighter red in my stash of paint and added it to the mix<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC8rKNbHv_6yv-K1a0MecUIofKi2Juz0f9AenZJsPRY2DXC98xNeaHqVv1zSHTVJdhvDbD88WZ4ibvW-u4jxJb8lKk6_Z2KLa14YWpv8svh5WZE2SjGGLiALIcLmg9kBfnotOUgK_AX0U/s1600/6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC8rKNbHv_6yv-K1a0MecUIofKi2Juz0f9AenZJsPRY2DXC98xNeaHqVv1zSHTVJdhvDbD88WZ4ibvW-u4jxJb8lKk6_Z2KLa14YWpv8svh5WZE2SjGGLiALIcLmg9kBfnotOUgK_AX0U/s320/6.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
After painting the bottom with the red chalk paint, I taped off the top .The middle was going to be painted with chalkboard paint to which I would make a painted checkerboard.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Iwf_KXnO00zIMnIctgZIoD_5S0ho_uFQO7v5ZX_W6SEYBsk7OXbPdNJLZ4TqV9m2pXTt_GMLU3Zv4B_tRCJn2m6QEMbdMcvHdyQuWJlnkSxIAbL3V-aouLKFJMvEsiZFa_CydUSQus4/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Iwf_KXnO00zIMnIctgZIoD_5S0ho_uFQO7v5ZX_W6SEYBsk7OXbPdNJLZ4TqV9m2pXTt_GMLU3Zv4B_tRCJn2m6QEMbdMcvHdyQuWJlnkSxIAbL3V-aouLKFJMvEsiZFa_CydUSQus4/s320/2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I painted the top outside edge with a light grey chalk paint that I mixed up with the same recipe above.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU6X5ESUzLjrAbpNJbvDLjim_II2l7uNijKcFFy5u7ajYN9n-NZzdU-AngMYHGsct0CAbP4D0yv7fCSD9qAmOC-vM-Dz7zu6b_Ao60FxW5Hun53rB92QKe_EPRGUZsf84eF8o6AFPTwhA/s1600/7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU6X5ESUzLjrAbpNJbvDLjim_II2l7uNijKcFFy5u7ajYN9n-NZzdU-AngMYHGsct0CAbP4D0yv7fCSD9qAmOC-vM-Dz7zu6b_Ao60FxW5Hun53rB92QKe_EPRGUZsf84eF8o6AFPTwhA/s320/7.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I used chalk and a ruler to draw out my checkerboard I wanted to put on the top and painted the squares with the grey. I was not too concerned with it not being exact since I wanted it to look old fashioned.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiRtkeCriim__95cukS96wMyOm0iuXoAsXehmkIbPD2_EIRS4hN-bQKV_-NohZ81zUl9JjX_o-myHw-daA8Nh-StsGcyJ-q_A6WSQSrol0sML1XufAwd3Pc-b8UqOaAj-A1daoRespPcY/s1600/8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiRtkeCriim__95cukS96wMyOm0iuXoAsXehmkIbPD2_EIRS4hN-bQKV_-NohZ81zUl9JjX_o-myHw-daA8Nh-StsGcyJ-q_A6WSQSrol0sML1XufAwd3Pc-b8UqOaAj-A1daoRespPcY/s320/8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Here it is after painting:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmnyMHRjOspMYuPg0sY-RLK3GeCCj_OIF_Hg0vDVAbts-B4pM9cElPfeDuOmbnFDbY_6Vj9QFV2zvt43uoddr1LQDInhAh2tG4PMbaeIjWoGUu1_YNYe1zBColJgeq-LeYsX-meCldRmc/s1600/9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmnyMHRjOspMYuPg0sY-RLK3GeCCj_OIF_Hg0vDVAbts-B4pM9cElPfeDuOmbnFDbY_6Vj9QFV2zvt43uoddr1LQDInhAh2tG4PMbaeIjWoGUu1_YNYe1zBColJgeq-LeYsX-meCldRmc/s320/9.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I took some sandpaper and roughed up the edges and the checkerboard to give it an aged look. I then stained it with some old Minwax dark stain I had. After that dried, I used Minwax natural furniture finishing wax. I applied a light coat with a soft stencil brush I had and then buffed it to a nice sheen.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have not had a chance to post in a while. During the holidays I was swamped with canvas and letter frame orders. Busy is good! I want to share some of the things that I have made lately. The first one is an idea I thought of to give my neighbors for Christmas. So, during the fall when they were not home, I went out and took a picture of the front of their homes. Here is the picture of my neighbors home to the right of me:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNDWYyTHJdJGUL9rNnHLbOrO4DsccZuXy0fkrLLlSzo8-aDyv2WuepsZPexm3yXoi7S3jZxaXNUr_CSe5KjPMlNUmUTIxrBH9J1mwYabmDH6zm_zPrGkrO8YvfslCXyUvyeZ-SPVEUjXY/s1600/11x14+house+pic+-+Page+026.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="251" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNDWYyTHJdJGUL9rNnHLbOrO4DsccZuXy0fkrLLlSzo8-aDyv2WuepsZPexm3yXoi7S3jZxaXNUr_CSe5KjPMlNUmUTIxrBH9J1mwYabmDH6zm_zPrGkrO8YvfslCXyUvyeZ-SPVEUjXY/s320/11x14+house+pic+-+Page+026.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I designed this picture and made a canvas of it:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnscyY0E56rEs-ckbPyTN9kV4nGgWIfyEC0ldsOl8ANGj8SWG9s5ZMVMsvTxfqg4yk_TPQQwuxebVxhNay9ZW1IbwT3mdd3cP0EJ7XdCT37OAgTalIm-kkoi8QywddcV5tFVfuyGTJM4g/s1600/11x14+House+sample+-+Page+027.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="251" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnscyY0E56rEs-ckbPyTN9kV4nGgWIfyEC0ldsOl8ANGj8SWG9s5ZMVMsvTxfqg4yk_TPQQwuxebVxhNay9ZW1IbwT3mdd3cP0EJ7XdCT37OAgTalIm-kkoi8QywddcV5tFVfuyGTJM4g/s320/11x14+House+sample+-+Page+027.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I did not take a picture of their canvas, but here is the one I made for myself:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
This next one is a wedding idea a friend wanted me to make. It is called, "First Dance" Beautiful isn't it?<br />

<br />
Then another friend asked me if I could make a canvas with the poem called, "Broken Chain" I ended up making three different ones. Here is one for a co-worker who lost her dad last year:<br />

Now back to work! <br /><br />
Thanks for checking out my blog.<br />
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17186356888064606035noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3723507360035995701.post-82512467579519324282012-10-30T10:25:00.001-07:002012-10-30T10:27:53.665-07:00Master Bath Part IIPool season has been over for about a month now so I have had time to get back to my master bath I have been working on. I decided to do something with the big giant mirror and counter you saw in my earlier blog post: <a href="http://dillondigitaldesigns.blogspot.com/2012/06/master-bath-redo-part-1.html" target="_blank">http://dillondigitaldesigns.blogspot.com/2012/06/master-bath-redo-part-1.html</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzrHxuIwoopcV2Fh4Zv5aZOSG5ePfQxhesTDLksMS6uiFhnOhsTXwJ_RpF3fuO1o14OfAML43TEvt5GPpnbou340c1L_PwkNGHG6ykDb5a7R7VxeKSCBO9xLVcPYx99VY7Mz036X5HuvI/s1600/mirror+0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzrHxuIwoopcV2Fh4Zv5aZOSG5ePfQxhesTDLksMS6uiFhnOhsTXwJ_RpF3fuO1o14OfAML43TEvt5GPpnbou340c1L_PwkNGHG6ykDb5a7R7VxeKSCBO9xLVcPYx99VY7Mz036X5HuvI/s320/mirror+0.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I went to my neighborhood Lowe's and had them cut two boards the width of the mirror and four the length of the mirror. I taped off the middle of the mirror and painted it to match my walls. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyctEzIvXkHuL3z-6xqCV3_emgWMXInqPJR6Q8obb6Wj3q7sCdsO1iccO1NG_dRg71cIDz5iXFDjKjn8AU1Cr_Fs4ZVDABVXJSKYM57wjs6Nbu35o0I3cogt2y9Lc5cl77VB3nyphgz1I/s1600/mirror+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyctEzIvXkHuL3z-6xqCV3_emgWMXInqPJR6Q8obb6Wj3q7sCdsO1iccO1NG_dRg71cIDz5iXFDjKjn8AU1Cr_Fs4ZVDABVXJSKYM57wjs6Nbu35o0I3cogt2y9Lc5cl77VB3nyphgz1I/s320/mirror+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I stained the boards with an acrylic brown that I used on the bread box makeover that sits on the counter to hold the hair cutter and power strip for the hair dryer and put a coat of polyurethane on them. I attached them to the mirror with Liquid nails and held it up with duct tape over night while the glue dried. Hard to picture that it is still one giant mirror huh? <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgcnSvBHm3Akd_2WjmYEwDkUZGZelWQOEWoNuyv-18_WGtA4FvZfkb5sljpqwVvZPNDkm5wTlW3KortWCm3pB38HjGhMENuFd8biZy0-jG9KBP5Hz5ydLEzwMt2F_mhMuzbQ60dsuhjDk/s1600/mirror+after+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgcnSvBHm3Akd_2WjmYEwDkUZGZelWQOEWoNuyv-18_WGtA4FvZfkb5sljpqwVvZPNDkm5wTlW3KortWCm3pB38HjGhMENuFd8biZy0-jG9KBP5Hz5ydLEzwMt2F_mhMuzbQ60dsuhjDk/s320/mirror+after+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Next it was time to do something about the vanity. If you have never heard of Giani Granite counter top paint, you will have to give it a try for counters you need to update but aren't ready to spend big bucks. Here is a link to their website: <a href="http://gianigranite.com/">http://gianigranite.com/</a><br />
As you can see above, I already painted the backsplash so I did not have to paint around the wood frame. <br />
First you put on a basecoat:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN39JsQnop136bRlphR9UbABYvKPjrau0waUfm_zbEAfFv2iY7ttRAjFjXqU0Qf_OfZji4GwIlfHxZBMD36KozFC7jqH6KVewaawGYphyUWrxhA1lHGxGrSpNRKhoRDZNEAta4CTcuTsM/s1600/mirror+after+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN39JsQnop136bRlphR9UbABYvKPjrau0waUfm_zbEAfFv2iY7ttRAjFjXqU0Qf_OfZji4GwIlfHxZBMD36KozFC7jqH6KVewaawGYphyUWrxhA1lHGxGrSpNRKhoRDZNEAta4CTcuTsM/s320/mirror+after+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then sponge paint the other 3 mineral colors. I used the chocolate brown kit. <br />
I did not take a picture of the sponge process, but here is the finished result:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikjxozZDNBMlmHHYVWg_DZ-K9SwFRo5ArlSz8nUkwnN0jlfBDtZqSN0OwvRRQmR9q28CWhngRV1-KVHvl0fdYtl3asrtm5L7EjBftqt6nUb0PeACNt2I87t9y7UIJ2Mz8PoRlc0n_Vyh4/s1600/mirror+after+5+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikjxozZDNBMlmHHYVWg_DZ-K9SwFRo5ArlSz8nUkwnN0jlfBDtZqSN0OwvRRQmR9q28CWhngRV1-KVHvl0fdYtl3asrtm5L7EjBftqt6nUb0PeACNt2I87t9y7UIJ2Mz8PoRlc0n_Vyh4/s320/mirror+after+5+(2).jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiehETS-Xy70mmBV_RGA3nHwcs851OSip3wbRcUPsdU6sQsbaot0nV5Z8nvvX5-N0FglwX_38iNjhQAv0FuzsXKVUYZ59KugqTAv6H0GMMPyZVxPKR0-6f6aKSzkjx1cmLKpJUuC-FPms4/s1600/mirror+after+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiehETS-Xy70mmBV_RGA3nHwcs851OSip3wbRcUPsdU6sQsbaot0nV5Z8nvvX5-N0FglwX_38iNjhQAv0FuzsXKVUYZ59KugqTAv6H0GMMPyZVxPKR0-6f6aKSzkjx1cmLKpJUuC-FPms4/s320/mirror+after+6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Sorry, the pictures are a little blurry, but the counter looks fabulous in person! Next project is to get rid of the crappy shower doors you can see in the mirror and new flooring. Of course I had to turn around and check it out. I took it home to see if I could do something with it. It had a bent leg and another bent piece in back but I can't pass up free!<br />
Here it is:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6FgQx9r53gSAzkIwFeJP1YYysvJHolSNi9G18kysQfcjv-08itquCArxfoucC43T-uZ4HVKzacD5u53BvI5cjMmAH72-w3XgENb1z-rAoe1m8lFmwCXI8c-kpCNkjN7E1_SxRZ9iq_Kw/s1600/2012-09-19+15.39.23.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6FgQx9r53gSAzkIwFeJP1YYysvJHolSNi9G18kysQfcjv-08itquCArxfoucC43T-uZ4HVKzacD5u53BvI5cjMmAH72-w3XgENb1z-rAoe1m8lFmwCXI8c-kpCNkjN7E1_SxRZ9iq_Kw/s320/2012-09-19+15.39.23.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I walked it around the house setting it down in this place or that to see if it would work somewhere and decided that it should go on my front porch. Besides my pool area in back, my porch is one of my favorite spots to relax.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibzxQ3rUuhYlfSNrx3xrlMBRtgOJJr6yvqw3w41Zjwu-KYQ_qJGF9lKDLB_Ej-yqX7vlBQ7kZbcgwXBk1AlwAsyIvmIOdW_Sm5Nbb1_MBEYniNDCIjA_Ox8d9WKQd-1jn2_K-rLREhekI/s1600/2012-09-21+14.29.09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibzxQ3rUuhYlfSNrx3xrlMBRtgOJJr6yvqw3w41Zjwu-KYQ_qJGF9lKDLB_Ej-yqX7vlBQ7kZbcgwXBk1AlwAsyIvmIOdW_Sm5Nbb1_MBEYniNDCIjA_Ox8d9WKQd-1jn2_K-rLREhekI/s320/2012-09-21+14.29.09.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Now it was time to fix up the cart and my milk can which I have been meaning to paint for a while.<br />
I found an old board in the garage, cut it to size with my trusty circular saw.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0tOzTNwV9e_cxhJkHEsuE7jxo2W2pPPThzBCumP0E3FDCo0WvPVuk2kS3CHjCcuNmLWQuyibH7Vxw7Q3huktgZ2kt7ctdPPNP9r2HrnPgpq2SPaexfVagSYSd2rqe8uY-O9xkGFfkizw/s1600/2012-09-21+15.15.04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0tOzTNwV9e_cxhJkHEsuE7jxo2W2pPPThzBCumP0E3FDCo0WvPVuk2kS3CHjCcuNmLWQuyibH7Vxw7Q3huktgZ2kt7ctdPPNP9r2HrnPgpq2SPaexfVagSYSd2rqe8uY-O9xkGFfkizw/s320/2012-09-21+15.15.04.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I got the idea here <a href="http://askannamoseley.com/2012/09/french-stenciled-bench/" target="_blank">Ask Anna</a> to make the design for my board.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzXKvYOjwwF60N6OdtMx9dtuqNkw-Y0HMw-GpWTIQikvskPK72rXQR8sBcDDhwXMxioybf8bW9YWKyWVNIYIEE6J5uxhfOMvnOzvstOCdS-67O049h06hyw-B0NpuU1rZhYRlxq6XBvdk/s1600/2012-09-21+15.15.09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzXKvYOjwwF60N6OdtMx9dtuqNkw-Y0HMw-GpWTIQikvskPK72rXQR8sBcDDhwXMxioybf8bW9YWKyWVNIYIEE6J5uxhfOMvnOzvstOCdS-67O049h06hyw-B0NpuU1rZhYRlxq6XBvdk/s320/2012-09-21+15.15.09.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I painted the board an ivory color with some brown accents. Then I burnt the edges of my paper to age it. Be careful if you try this. I wet my kitchen sink and light it with a bbq lighter a little piece of the edge at a time over the sink. Then I modpodged the paper to the board and added a bit of the brown paint on the paper. I put a coat of modpodge on it and then after it was dry, I sprayed some polyurethane over it for protection since it was going to be outside.<br />
Here is the finished board on the cart:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiibEdxBDfIF_lYU1suUOE2A6uzBytYV7odc68ZWQxB-eQXOMKGYbkyRI6oHutbrN8YXMhx1Dz8qU1_vEMQ36KN7tb8Wxd3WcIS6R48Cb1235771AzRfsDnnfBAUYMg1RuPbAOaNFt-Mvg/s1600/2012-09-21+15.57.51.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiibEdxBDfIF_lYU1suUOE2A6uzBytYV7odc68ZWQxB-eQXOMKGYbkyRI6oHutbrN8YXMhx1Dz8qU1_vEMQ36KN7tb8Wxd3WcIS6R48Cb1235771AzRfsDnnfBAUYMg1RuPbAOaNFt-Mvg/s320/2012-09-21+15.57.51.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Next it was time to paint the cart and milk can. I used Krylon flat black paint<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7mv-Ywaa5T2JVwFwTXRMSzg6mSE62-2R6UtbPGhcV8yaDcTKZ0SZsXsbNaQ_a4VEOjgGGs8SWXLPCivQBzyemXvAO5w-daakSKaEQtttOTXvM0gjHKBpQWnyPLe149GAiI_qJmnVNm2Q/s1600/2012-09-22+10.20.11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7mv-Ywaa5T2JVwFwTXRMSzg6mSE62-2R6UtbPGhcV8yaDcTKZ0SZsXsbNaQ_a4VEOjgGGs8SWXLPCivQBzyemXvAO5w-daakSKaEQtttOTXvM0gjHKBpQWnyPLe149GAiI_qJmnVNm2Q/s320/2012-09-22+10.20.11.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
While they were drying I worked on making a stencil for my milk can. I designed and printed out our address on a piece of paper<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUWUh7LQOBxzURTp-TLvtvwq3nEH3N2YW4gtfYF53zhoyIuhYodu8YGAK2L06P2QvU4GC4RPi4kSjj0rAiB5eL6DCh6Kz8n8GV2htkgQWcrs9cgNWy88DnhnKm8gOOcB7ez_qq0v03Sdk/s1600/2012-09-22+11.35.20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUWUh7LQOBxzURTp-TLvtvwq3nEH3N2YW4gtfYF53zhoyIuhYodu8YGAK2L06P2QvU4GC4RPi4kSjj0rAiB5eL6DCh6Kz8n8GV2htkgQWcrs9cgNWy88DnhnKm8gOOcB7ez_qq0v03Sdk/s320/2012-09-22+11.35.20.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I grabbed some contact paper I keep on hand. I found that I could see the design under the contact paper, so I used a marker to trace the design and an exacto knife to cut out a stencil.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5GClfdRolaHhWD2RRhyphenhyphenUD2fu_O3SG-HKmanK58NQoehigLOIl0H_6KU4zL2pi426pcg_TJO7SwLTpfzCa0wkm-lXle8TpB8KEJgB_jTU49292-kZRzIQNG4ei7TS6mcwa6jmcuHv0Wd4/s1600/2012-09-22+09.28.45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5GClfdRolaHhWD2RRhyphenhyphenUD2fu_O3SG-HKmanK58NQoehigLOIl0H_6KU4zL2pi426pcg_TJO7SwLTpfzCa0wkm-lXle8TpB8KEJgB_jTU49292-kZRzIQNG4ei7TS6mcwa6jmcuHv0Wd4/s320/2012-09-22+09.28.45.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I stuck it on the can and used the ivory paint to stencil the number on the can.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI4njGYWU3b79LkZYwFZ3pK86xa70WOYQ2TRI4tUadhyYlFC7_hFFP3F-MAlvgKVQ7BPTBrzPgGs1qR5w6xV3vSuX8ezCq9iUQkvcketxeDW2FmVphFSn7N3Q4HUGv06L1onoX3yg4g_0/s1600/2012-09-22+11.04.35.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI4njGYWU3b79LkZYwFZ3pK86xa70WOYQ2TRI4tUadhyYlFC7_hFFP3F-MAlvgKVQ7BPTBrzPgGs1qR5w6xV3vSuX8ezCq9iUQkvcketxeDW2FmVphFSn7N3Q4HUGv06L1onoX3yg4g_0/s320/2012-09-22+11.04.35.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>

I think the cart is a nice added touch. Best of all it only cost 10 bucks! Four dollars for a can of spray paint and six dollars for flowers. From the side of the road Wednesday, to my front porch today!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17186356888064606035noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3723507360035995701.post-5262329422040695642012-09-08T10:49:00.000-07:002012-09-08T10:49:09.897-07:00Tailgate Table Time (with apologies to my Georgia friends and family)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
So we have always been Mizzou and Georgia football fans. My daughter, her husband all live in Athens, home of the Georgia Bulldogs. She frequently has bought us Georgia apparel. Now Mizzou and Georgia are in the same SEC division. While this is exciting, it puts me in the middle. Now I am a Mizzou fan, but I do have a small spot in my heart for my daughters home team, Anyway, today is the BIG MIZZOU/Georgia game and we have tickets! We will be leaving to go up to Columbia in an hour. I was getting tailgating supplies together and realized we never have a table to just set our drinks or dips on. So I grabbed this old TV tray I have had and decided I should paint it.<br />

Found me a nice pic<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig6pjqtZazCOhhq1NyffrjErWv803-BNL6igVuIyd319DWNwEI6FL4P8Nqp6b3GG8IJwGaRqxcHvocMg1WU_q4fUq9oW3XzwQHWSyKnAUXH7w8tQ4OfwOhsx0ChUBuLRNt6RDA7reWF5o/s1600/2012-09-08+10.46.28.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig6pjqtZazCOhhq1NyffrjErWv803-BNL6igVuIyd319DWNwEI6FL4P8Nqp6b3GG8IJwGaRqxcHvocMg1WU_q4fUq9oW3XzwQHWSyKnAUXH7w8tQ4OfwOhsx0ChUBuLRNt6RDA7reWF5o/s320/2012-09-08+10.46.28.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>

I was able to make 3 canvases and some curtains for the bathroom which I will post later. This project was an afterthought today. It was pretty quick and easy to do. As I said before, I am in the process of working on my master bath. I had this old chair that I bought at a garage sale years ago. It was originally a maple color and I used the crackle paint technique on it and the vanity that I had since I was a little girl. It looked fine when the bath was yellow, green and blue but I figured I would be covering the seat sometime since I painted the room in the brown with turquoise accessories.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3WUwYrzvtd_0lSPQluMKm1NatVXg__ziAA9oJN2cU6EeIQrWDQJvNZJDuwJe0kJsYNqoOeZOXnNtUmHOiFjL66t0hqf3l0MHvtNcIVmgvYaA0LvzrcsHXDnZh9eQmZpAekANRXRKSOww/s1600/2012-09-03+11.19.29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3WUwYrzvtd_0lSPQluMKm1NatVXg__ziAA9oJN2cU6EeIQrWDQJvNZJDuwJe0kJsYNqoOeZOXnNtUmHOiFjL66t0hqf3l0MHvtNcIVmgvYaA0LvzrcsHXDnZh9eQmZpAekANRXRKSOww/s320/2012-09-03+11.19.29.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I taped the edges. I first used some gesso paint to give it a nice surface to paint:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-fPkQs2qOWBKngpaRFvFMg5-2TWzZ0TAznpNJCesi4T3JpRYXWCCsUH8h_LBMRVUHHxaloaOqpgwSS8t0pYwI85rWx9fYdXDsZe4JpukJqPGr9lRf_8slncfQnnVl_siNVNUaDYOi8Kw/s1600/2012-09-03+11.23.24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-fPkQs2qOWBKngpaRFvFMg5-2TWzZ0TAznpNJCesi4T3JpRYXWCCsUH8h_LBMRVUHHxaloaOqpgwSS8t0pYwI85rWx9fYdXDsZe4JpukJqPGr9lRf_8slncfQnnVl_siNVNUaDYOi8Kw/s320/2012-09-03+11.23.24.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I got busy outside with the grandkids at the pool and forgot to take the next few pics, but I then painted the seat with a nice ivory paint and used brown to paint the piping on the edge. I then went to my new favorite blog site for graphics and grabbed this one from "The Graphics Fairy?" <a href="http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/ </a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvscU2CHr_qmKJs6E8dq1CPVmo-oMhNBp0CsJJhCzDa_twvBvkNa_ksjdWiVaStq_P2X3njazJRtYRXt6aErmLtpeYgG3qA1KB6qf6QjN7mp7z7WT49d_zASSlEq__xi5rnlklnRQ0Sa4/s1600/2012-09-03+12.15.03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvscU2CHr_qmKJs6E8dq1CPVmo-oMhNBp0CsJJhCzDa_twvBvkNa_ksjdWiVaStq_P2X3njazJRtYRXt6aErmLtpeYgG3qA1KB6qf6QjN7mp7z7WT49d_zASSlEq__xi5rnlklnRQ0Sa4/s320/2012-09-03+12.15.03.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I used my scapbook software to reverse the image. I printed it on freezer paper. I got the instructions for this at this blog site: <a href="http://home-frosting.blogspot.com/2011/08/transfer-using-freezer-paper.html" target="_blank">http://home-frosting.blogspot.com/2011/08/transfer-using-freezer-paper.html</a><br />
I carefully put it on like she said by getting my surface wet, but it just smeared, so I wiped the graphic off the freezer paper and tried again without wetting my chair. It went on still a little blurry, but I want it to look old anyway. After everything dried I used a waterbase acrylic varnish to give it a protective coat. Here is my finished product:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1Tgf0ZSYfI49eCfGLs2NYgvZQ7CaL4_28WoorIxm1beEMkz9ZKQjOADr-SPFMqF_ETSUs98d9Et2R45rPJqd7SHDDz8u2K6CHYFP9LY8_fjK1gTnv9ZqK9UDUf6LnE6nYhEmHDFJriEM/s1600/2012-09-03+17.53.42.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1Tgf0ZSYfI49eCfGLs2NYgvZQ7CaL4_28WoorIxm1beEMkz9ZKQjOADr-SPFMqF_ETSUs98d9Et2R45rPJqd7SHDDz8u2K6CHYFP9LY8_fjK1gTnv9ZqK9UDUf6LnE6nYhEmHDFJriEM/s320/2012-09-03+17.53.42.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC9aLGPVthSyGeFQA7f0qAMCkEtWOqeNWU3L7jDfnOdtNPZd9zGFWX6R_HtA8sr7tuiCnYLZCcnPcmM-GJ3jtPUgv-fKMvtarxMYZfSct3I9tLHm_NPSEaC_u-0gX3QqPOsHKuIyQK1M0/s1600/2012-09-03+17.54.33.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC9aLGPVthSyGeFQA7f0qAMCkEtWOqeNWU3L7jDfnOdtNPZd9zGFWX6R_HtA8sr7tuiCnYLZCcnPcmM-GJ3jtPUgv-fKMvtarxMYZfSct3I9tLHm_NPSEaC_u-0gX3QqPOsHKuIyQK1M0/s320/2012-09-03+17.54.33.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I really like it and think it goes well with my bread box graphic project I did a few weeks ago. I figure if it does not hold up, I can always go back to my original plan and recover the chair!<br /><br />
<br />

(For some reason I have this thing for containers). <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYJspfKenKPr6NhSWInbjw8zkdOfN37i66ClCh5dlMQaW2oqN0OgCUxLys5KmAxSVwZD2-riTonVYt-PEX2ebVEkAAnLBqBOFPWhHp-Zhc5sZMnQrYElgYSTD2MmtCMoXFlFuK5WRUY6A/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYJspfKenKPr6NhSWInbjw8zkdOfN37i66ClCh5dlMQaW2oqN0OgCUxLys5KmAxSVwZD2-riTonVYt-PEX2ebVEkAAnLBqBOFPWhHp-Zhc5sZMnQrYElgYSTD2MmtCMoXFlFuK5WRUY6A/s320/1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Well, after seeing the makeover from "30 Handmade Days" I knew what I wanted to do. <br />
<a href="http://www.thirtyhandmadedays.com/2012/08/upcycled-bread-box/" target="_blank">http://www.thirtyhandmadedays.com/2012/08/upcycled-bread-box/</a><br />
So I had my handy dandy neighbor, Kraig cut a hole in the back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnG2MNBAYZQ1sIrDWYVxdDFlWLlnTV9V8OJKsJu_zdCXZp64KzpSNbas84OKP7qLDO0YPx25n31HTdKUwnJZLNOwryhlqgW3wyjAGSdTQhy4OmUupbmrakr96B2hhP6-8r-2iwTQiRW0A/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnG2MNBAYZQ1sIrDWYVxdDFlWLlnTV9V8OJKsJu_zdCXZp64KzpSNbas84OKP7qLDO0YPx25n31HTdKUwnJZLNOwryhlqgW3wyjAGSdTQhy4OmUupbmrakr96B2hhP6-8r-2iwTQiRW0A/s320/2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I painted the top and sides with brown acrylic paint doing a stain like effect using a rag. The front was painted with an ivory color. I used an acrylic varnish I had to give the brown a slight sheen.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXptqlhz559wmJ6UaFTlKUnuX9IdKohwFP2lcvoi9WX5xRLp7_0z_0YoAOKg4EUyFD4rCDSQrBVw8hOMotNXmooZQo6WHk1RXKCRmNz9Pk3d3ZhYqcC4BX6PV3NTlkbfCYAU9HheshMIU/s1600/5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXptqlhz559wmJ6UaFTlKUnuX9IdKohwFP2lcvoi9WX5xRLp7_0z_0YoAOKg4EUyFD4rCDSQrBVw8hOMotNXmooZQo6WHk1RXKCRmNz9Pk3d3ZhYqcC4BX6PV3NTlkbfCYAU9HheshMIU/s320/5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I went to a really great site to get graphic images called, "The Graphics Fairy"<br />
<a href="http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/2011/04/vintage-clip-art-beautiful-french.html">http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/2011/04/vintage-clip-art-beautiful-french.html</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3WGpy6C-fpqPSPDrvEQU7nc2AHPWvIyiwtdELHkf7WX15RSUKPIDzKcVAvy-gpgC4Npqq5D6eg9UzbygWoz2ANbSn0fqUU02Uqn-BrzbzWnHJWBe5tutK_WGQv6yTIWEmmePK3HV9pAI/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3WGpy6C-fpqPSPDrvEQU7nc2AHPWvIyiwtdELHkf7WX15RSUKPIDzKcVAvy-gpgC4Npqq5D6eg9UzbygWoz2ANbSn0fqUU02Uqn-BrzbzWnHJWBe5tutK_WGQv6yTIWEmmePK3HV9pAI/s320/3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
At first I thought I might print it on tissue and put it on the box like a tattoo, but then I decided that I would print on an ivory colored paper and burn the edges to make it destressed. Be careful when burning by burning only a couple inches at one time, blowing out the flame then doing the next few until you get the desired size and edging. I then "painted" it with coffee to make it look old. <br />

I got out my trusty Mod Podge and glued the paper to the front of my box and after drying, I put two coats of Mod Podge over the top. Here is the result:<br />

My bathroom has only one outlet and my hubby and I fight over it with my hair dryer that is plugged in (it is a hotel style I found at a sale) and his hair cutter. This is a perfect solution! I put a power strip inside and plugged in my hair dryer along with his cutter.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

When they come over they bring their Ipad.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvoh5xnLhM-cY_vPoaqH9xubvj6Ox4QdM_ky7SV-esJ5r-Gv5ozzSXjBxCQYj98f2I6_RAsMkfAObDBYck4LCBhSyj9t_WbPrpq-C1ghtkg2eIAQ-TgGevCssGgcEHoonjWed9fVzrm1s/s1600/0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvoh5xnLhM-cY_vPoaqH9xubvj6Ox4QdM_ky7SV-esJ5r-Gv5ozzSXjBxCQYj98f2I6_RAsMkfAObDBYck4LCBhSyj9t_WbPrpq-C1ghtkg2eIAQ-TgGevCssGgcEHoonjWed9fVzrm1s/s320/0.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
It makes me nervous because they just carry it in just as it is. So I decided they needed an Ipad case to hold and protect it. I started with duct tape and cardboard:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmIytgY2HmfIEQ0hMyIdTWDdDpm7QXajtLInfIAK8GJeJGfYUEMHk7YZMApRk7YAShNnwd4m4kQz6T0xPfj4vSpQ_uKb7QI8gonu5G7BCSqb5Leu9y3ZjkYl3lfpL7BLBTFFvBm7w59TM/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmIytgY2HmfIEQ0hMyIdTWDdDpm7QXajtLInfIAK8GJeJGfYUEMHk7YZMApRk7YAShNnwd4m4kQz6T0xPfj4vSpQ_uKb7QI8gonu5G7BCSqb5Leu9y3ZjkYl3lfpL7BLBTFFvBm7w59TM/s320/1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Then I measured the cardboard so to be just a bit larger than the Ipad.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjr4XRQ4K5tFGBWm2WHwkoSFqRa373p3po459VHkiMPuS5iLV7_VW0levdvEEFwgOBWsDL0vg1XNEx3VQNMFCFtJapoLRUQHjyPFmQwWE2jf7nym6IECEGLpbJuuOFreQBbCR-kjj3jGw/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjr4XRQ4K5tFGBWm2WHwkoSFqRa373p3po459VHkiMPuS5iLV7_VW0levdvEEFwgOBWsDL0vg1XNEx3VQNMFCFtJapoLRUQHjyPFmQwWE2jf7nym6IECEGLpbJuuOFreQBbCR-kjj3jGw/s320/2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I needed something to give it some padding so I found bubble wrap!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRUOPAiIXcbyOEF8ZOrn-6VtLHiTzFjUvZfnjMc6kYY6TpNRZFe5Sy13b-6R0PELr59ftn5nLaDuUQ4QQvirLZkztYzmLG5i1jpD5_70k4jf3IxIeyLBamnHVBM87Ynu_PBrmULqMCNGM/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRUOPAiIXcbyOEF8ZOrn-6VtLHiTzFjUvZfnjMc6kYY6TpNRZFe5Sy13b-6R0PELr59ftn5nLaDuUQ4QQvirLZkztYzmLG5i1jpD5_70k4jf3IxIeyLBamnHVBM87Ynu_PBrmULqMCNGM/s320/3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I cut and taped it to the inside of the cardboard.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjLZTYBHn9danHGJYx46ww4WZN_jDTwsPCL0lERikKoSEtkSd-Ia-h3CCA05VUIY_E0QKHw2fZ6Zm_19CKo4J9lZHGMKdfvzbTIfbCSBt5PxI0dfqu1VYXK54GocduNyNRSLp5K-xdK3o/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjLZTYBHn9danHGJYx46ww4WZN_jDTwsPCL0lERikKoSEtkSd-Ia-h3CCA05VUIY_E0QKHw2fZ6Zm_19CKo4J9lZHGMKdfvzbTIfbCSBt5PxI0dfqu1VYXK54GocduNyNRSLp5K-xdK3o/s320/4.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Then I cut strips and added them to the inside and outside.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_cTyTBE9jgT0kjFfC_lcPV8ehXIyIQSjCE2S4OK5NGXrUuxdQaE_yhV6aAxKf1f9HmOuEbbwGp7Lpo1v5k9GnGYGcdFdqepVDl-9-B5r_g4HLBROtQ46iPoZZmSrYGvU8bRLA9pHWQT0/s1600/5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_cTyTBE9jgT0kjFfC_lcPV8ehXIyIQSjCE2S4OK5NGXrUuxdQaE_yhV6aAxKf1f9HmOuEbbwGp7Lpo1v5k9GnGYGcdFdqepVDl-9-B5r_g4HLBROtQ46iPoZZmSrYGvU8bRLA9pHWQT0/s320/5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Here is the inside view:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Sg187N72hXkRed3VKNO5X1UsGmh1i4oN8v6mmScl4EZA8jXU4LZU4uUmwT4jlOuj_K7WJD6mp4dZnw0BkxS9AS3n6rEEhkwZ-hQP-PovkVyyO4fT70K0AXyPdSnw4wpL3N09u5-vqrw/s1600/6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Sg187N72hXkRed3VKNO5X1UsGmh1i4oN8v6mmScl4EZA8jXU4LZU4uUmwT4jlOuj_K7WJD6mp4dZnw0BkxS9AS3n6rEEhkwZ-hQP-PovkVyyO4fT70K0AXyPdSnw4wpL3N09u5-vqrw/s320/6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I made and taped tabs on each side:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD0io4s0nTSYiiBvcHhAieg5E-Htgyn7sdwtTEuLsBCIgcTTYpfv3LIIpQ9IwVDDSpvaDnbi1qXEKd-0mJaaj6p-5066v7IsxRcjh3s32b2T33KWuij_k6h4NxBtJKB_elxGgpPjqDF08/s1600/8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD0io4s0nTSYiiBvcHhAieg5E-Htgyn7sdwtTEuLsBCIgcTTYpfv3LIIpQ9IwVDDSpvaDnbi1qXEKd-0mJaaj6p-5066v7IsxRcjh3s32b2T33KWuij_k6h4NxBtJKB_elxGgpPjqDF08/s320/8.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
For the handle I used a shoestring and covered it with duct tape:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh780Iqpd9d6hRN450ZgNzvsBFnfYIazXAMEi4mrqPH_wgOipbKTlp4xZh1_nKi6zY70StOb-fUaHqRPco-Gr8Mf_ypXb-KCdgD-8AEEiOVMXaULdtb8mzaSi2jESEMEXXiJV2GHV_jyME/s1600/9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh780Iqpd9d6hRN450ZgNzvsBFnfYIazXAMEi4mrqPH_wgOipbKTlp4xZh1_nKi6zY70StOb-fUaHqRPco-Gr8Mf_ypXb-KCdgD-8AEEiOVMXaULdtb8mzaSi2jESEMEXXiJV2GHV_jyME/s320/9.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGhJu5BfC8lvivMWboBw9D5-f2z97WKhJMRJVh3Xq_Owhy0-1xP1JY3TyzgbTy7QKZq-EBJPv0PoZweZjq4ZM05fBMZBLc3sB7W83HgD_QEFjVp8A1aIXQ5h57eKDsYBwiATYMDYG4o8U/s1600/10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGhJu5BfC8lvivMWboBw9D5-f2z97WKhJMRJVh3Xq_Owhy0-1xP1JY3TyzgbTy7QKZq-EBJPv0PoZweZjq4ZM05fBMZBLc3sB7W83HgD_QEFjVp8A1aIXQ5h57eKDsYBwiATYMDYG4o8U/s320/10.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
It needed a closure on top, so I grabbed some velcro and put it on front<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Had I decided on a closure ahead of time I would have put on the back strap before I covered the cardboard with the tape, but it is still okay. I think it turned out fine.<br />

I needed 12 x 12 canvas but did not want to pay a big price. I scored these "lovely" pictures at a garage sale for a dollar each and knew they would be perfect!<br />

<br />
I used my Creative Memories scrap book software to design my template. I added the baby information for some friends who recently had babies. I sent the pictures I created off to be printed. (I use Costco printing) I painted the canvas white, painted Mod Podge on it and set the pictures on the top. After it was stuck the way I wanted, I painted the side of the canvas and a little on the top as a border with a matching color. When dry, I used Mod Podge on the picture to give it a more matted effect. I love them and I am sure the recipients of the baby gifts will too!<br />

We had a rainy day last week so I decided to finish painting my master bath.<br />
I forgot to take a picture before it was tore up, but here is the color of the wall before:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAIEH-7WZERZg8OiNIhuKG2WKvsTswvar_ahRGC-Va_p75_u_elH622r7mxjWmPpnp2LCUJtXUpLeM0XSjFKPZATAZOZqkZc6uSnT5z-gkIpSCRR0zenFO4FjI3x9wGeEhL8YbWCJAIY8/s1600/2012-03-20+09.19.40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAIEH-7WZERZg8OiNIhuKG2WKvsTswvar_ahRGC-Va_p75_u_elH622r7mxjWmPpnp2LCUJtXUpLeM0XSjFKPZATAZOZqkZc6uSnT5z-gkIpSCRR0zenFO4FjI3x9wGeEhL8YbWCJAIY8/s320/2012-03-20+09.19.40.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
(I know bright right?)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA0-Ph3bu7vqLiDXIAkkseDKNW2Jl5bh8ZTp79F8vSKH9yR1D3i55ZZdqz_62Q1Q2XlNk5TL4WBfML0OaAtwxSwzAVqlldths9Q6Bs2vGq7oTO0cbGIvY8XTfU3K5OAM4zYmve_0FgUTY/s1600/2012-03-20+09.19.04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA0-Ph3bu7vqLiDXIAkkseDKNW2Jl5bh8ZTp79F8vSKH9yR1D3i55ZZdqz_62Q1Q2XlNk5TL4WBfML0OaAtwxSwzAVqlldths9Q6Bs2vGq7oTO0cbGIvY8XTfU3K5OAM4zYmve_0FgUTY/s320/2012-03-20+09.19.04.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZb-GdfUhgndohwj3f2te5Gv_H0XIpVr6p7AEabcIV_9XyJLh2AwpvRZLSqfXP72ILqyhHhihhp3DFxl_L0PAaeptO3g7FCfw5YCkyHSFasjFcjDr0pMe6BWsHcbcmrWLpjqg4pVdr-iw/s1600/2012-06-17+08.32.53.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
So, I decided to change the decor to chocolate brown with turquoise accents. I had been collecting items that I found at garage sales or Goodwill to use. <br />
<br />

I already had the little lamp on the vanity and the jar and letter D on the shelf as well as the tin on the wall, I bought the towels on sale and with a 30% off at Kohl's I love what new towels do to a room!<br />
and last is my trash to treasure chandelier that I redid hanging above the tub below:<br />

<br />
<br />
I still have some work to do, new floor, shower doors, painting the counter, figuring out what to do about the gigantic mirror and making roman shades from a tip I saw on Pinterest! But the pool awaits so it will all have to wait until pool season comes to an end..... <br />
<br />

I have several things that I re-purposed for my home. Last week my neighbors had this in their trash can:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj91halqo708WVb2IXjDmuwVXc3oFZ1OFern7pOPV2PWbHgd6wrYobFffHOIT4eWC8Ir-u_8sttSisSfv69-kKc2u8sWL5xaGxmj8z16_vWEvNZMEBto0lYj_DV9O9dkIbXTSCcdFT1swg/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj91halqo708WVb2IXjDmuwVXc3oFZ1OFern7pOPV2PWbHgd6wrYobFffHOIT4eWC8Ir-u_8sttSisSfv69-kKc2u8sWL5xaGxmj8z16_vWEvNZMEBto0lYj_DV9O9dkIbXTSCcdFT1swg/s320/1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
So I first cleaned it and removed the parts that usually hold the electric wires inside the flower thingy. Then I grabbed my handy dandy bronze paint and painted it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I went to Goodwill and found these juice glasses for 50 cents each, I already had the tea light candles:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here is the finished light:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It is going in my master bath that I am in process of redoing. Pictures of that later!<br />

The chairs that came with it did not last after the first year. So I have been on the lookout for bar chairs to paint in bright colors. I found some last fall and found time to paint them this week.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I bought a spray paint at Hobby Lobby called Gesso Spray. It was a great primer for the chairs and allowed the other spray paint to stay bright. I used an idea I found on Pinterest to use "Glad Press n Seal" around areas that you don't want sprayed. It worked great on the metal foot rest. I used the caps from spray cans to rest the feet on during painting.

I painted my powder room a week ago and was able to put in the finishing touches. I also had my guest bath done a few years back but never quite pulled it together. This weekend I painted the cabinets in both bathrooms and added some other touches. I love the end result.

I used Rustoleum Antique Black paint kit. I had bought it a few years back for my bedroom dressers and had a lot left. I used it for both cabinets, the mirror and the toilet paper holder. Unfortunately the pictures don't look as well as it does in person.The basket on the wall was a garage sale find and I added the D which was a paper mache' that I painted black.
I got the word emblem from Kohls on sale and with a 30% off. I think I spent a total of maybe 30 dollars on the whole room. The tile sitting on the back of the counter is a sample. I am going to use that as a border as soon as I buy some.
Here is my guest bathroom: <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I had painted the walls a few years back and put in the shower curtain and the baby pics but that was it. I think the painted cabinet and the wall border pulled it together, I used a toilet paper roll to stencil the white circles (the idea from someone on Pinterest) then I just painted various circle in the green and gray. Pretty neat for zero money!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17186356888064606035noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3723507360035995701.post-12180181812105568362012-02-04T14:42:00.000-08:002012-02-04T14:42:22.585-08:00Canvas project the good the bad and the ugly!I love all of the canvas projects I have been seeing on Pinterest. I wanted attempt to make one myself. There are several different ideas that I saw. I had a picture that I had taken of my grandsons with their monkey hats that I wanted to make a canvas picture<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKut3qi6-5dwXwxrJMz9YAKe0-fe-bKq-mUw_Wcs7mNr-Hdg7c_L-VRVpg27ZxR97S74-dJhwnqYDcl8oCEx3u_oP_yuIvhM-IoWT9D8iCi1tIxpzFzcjXMlLnTBsMsxwoAK3hJVaFpNA/s1600/Christmas+2011+-+Page+012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKut3qi6-5dwXwxrJMz9YAKe0-fe-bKq-mUw_Wcs7mNr-Hdg7c_L-VRVpg27ZxR97S74-dJhwnqYDcl8oCEx3u_oP_yuIvhM-IoWT9D8iCi1tIxpzFzcjXMlLnTBsMsxwoAK3hJVaFpNA/s320/Christmas+2011+-+Page+012.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
I used my scrapbook software to jazz it up a bit and I decided to try the one I saw on this blog: <br />
http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/10/make-your-own-canvas-portrait.html<br />
It did not quite turn out as well as hers turned out as you can see by my picture. I realized after I started doing the rub, that I did not put enough mod podge on it (which by the way, I made myself!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiii__pTgYpHQKjjUYR1wT_8SIF6mrq8LUi6b2J-FT4-N74P0L5mGbjAm0n6DoB2iX9Yo4z9-Ma5rayP-pBAYYzXNo891OYzyWoPmoa1-Z6rd4W4qghCRb-WLKsDG-clUNpCGjGBhRUXvE/s1600/2012-01-29+10.08.40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiii__pTgYpHQKjjUYR1wT_8SIF6mrq8LUi6b2J-FT4-N74P0L5mGbjAm0n6DoB2iX9Yo4z9-Ma5rayP-pBAYYzXNo891OYzyWoPmoa1-Z6rd4W4qghCRb-WLKsDG-clUNpCGjGBhRUXvE/s320/2012-01-29+10.08.40.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
So I tried this idea that I found on this site:<br />

A co-worker at work just had a baby last week. I wanted to share the picture I made for him. I am still working on my canvas picture. One attempt turned into a disaster. I will show when I get the other one I am doing finished. Happy crafting, everyone!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17186356888064606035noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3723507360035995701.post-70612215709833476832012-01-22T09:49:00.000-08:002012-01-22T09:49:09.455-08:00Another ProjectI had a 40% off coupon for Hobby Lobby, so yesterday I went to see what I could find. They had some Christmas things on clearance at 90% off. I loved the stocking holders that were silver and black monograms. Of course they did not have a "D" but I found an "H" for my mom and an "E" for my principal. I think they will look so cool on a shelf holding up a little family sign or something similar. They were only $1.88 normally 17 bucks!<br />

So I am starting another project I found on Pinterest. I bought some 11 x 14 blank canvas' on sale. I am going to attempt to put a photo on it myself. I have this adorable picture of my grandsons with their monkey hats I bought them. I sent the picture off to be printed at Costco. I will post the pictures of the project and the link where I got the idea after I get started. Off to watch football, Happy Sunday everyone!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17186356888064606035noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3723507360035995701.post-11440475273483431612012-01-21T10:27:00.000-08:002012-01-21T10:27:10.964-08:00Obsessed with Pinterest!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am getting more and more obsessed with Pinterest which has led me to some very creative ladies who blog. I have found sooo many great ideas I want to tackle I am not sure where to start or stop. This week I combined two different ideas to make a sign for a co-worker who raises chickens. I have been buying eggs from her, so when I saw this sign from here: http://girlinair.b<span id="goog_1745076590"></span><span id="goog_1745076591"></span>logspot.com/2011/08/distressed-farm-sign.html , I decided to make it for her. I found an old board in my dad's garage and used the white paint treatment on it to look old. I decided to use a different technique to put the letters on it that I found from this site: http://www.unexpectedelegance.com/?p=2381 Instead of putting the stars on the board, I decided to trace with mine and paint them on. I used an old wire screwed on the back so she will be able to hang it. I don't think mine looks as good as the original design, but the beauty of it is, it is supposed to look old and rough and it did not cost me anything to make. I am giving it to her on Monday, hope she likes it! Thank you crafty blogger ladies for the great ideas!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17186356888064606035noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3723507360035995701.post-33484468411376453712012-01-18T17:45:00.000-08:002012-01-18T17:53:07.241-08:00Valentines Baby!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I don't have young kids to help make Valentines for anymore since my kids have kids of their own. I asked my daughter-in law if I could make my grandson, D.J.'s valentines for his kindergarten party. Here is what I came up with. Since I did not have a current baseball picture of him, we are going with the one without the picture, but I do think the ones with his older baseball picture are cute! I made these with Creative Memories Storybook software. I used the Baseball digital additions papers with a ticket template.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17186356888064606035noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3723507360035995701.post-50392025045860179792012-01-17T15:05:00.000-08:002012-01-17T15:05:22.416-08:00Letter plaque<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I love making decorations or pictures with letters. I found these letters and printed them off as 4 x 6 pictures. I framed them with dollar store frames and attached them to part of an old picket fence. I hung it on the wall that separates my kitchen from my family room. Any suggestions on what to put on either side? It looks rather lonely up there. Tomorrow I will show you another letter project I made for Soren, my neighbor's son.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17186356888064606035noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3723507360035995701.post-37546355000575584672012-01-16T07:48:00.000-08:002012-02-09T09:02:30.559-08:00I am in love with Chalkboard Paint!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

When I saw ideas on Pinterest about using chalkboard paint, I knew I had to get some. I am going crazy with a paintbrush, just ask my hubby. I had some old Christmas trays that I no longer used. They were metal so I decided that if I painted them with chalkboard paint they could serve as a message board with magnets.<br />
Here is how they turned out. I gave each as gifts. The round tray was a gift for the girl who now cuts my hair and opened up her own salon in her new home. The magnets on the round tray are ones that I made and will share on a later post. The other tray is for our neighbors boy 4th birthday. I gave him magnetic ABC's and a pack of chalk. I used the magnet letters and traced around them, then painted his name on the bottom of the tray with acrylic paint. I also made him a name plaque for his room that I will show on another day. Happy painting!
